Consumer Marine FAQs
Marine service contracts, also called marine protection plans, offer you protection against the high cost of repairs in the case of a mechanical breakdown. These plans complement a manufacturer’s warranty program.
Do you plan on keeping your watercraft past the expiration of your manufacturer’s warranty? If so, you may want to consider a marine protection plan. Unexpected repair costs may occur, along with the possibility you may lose the use of your watercraft for some time. A marine protection plan offered by your dealer gives you peace of mind and protection in the event of an unexpected mechanical failure.
Your coverage depends on the plan you buy. In general, most of the mechanical, electrical and electronic components of your watercraft are eligible for coverage. Depending on the plan, your coverage may include the following: Parts and labor for the engine, transmission, V-drive, stern drive upper and lower unit, fuel delivery, electrical, ignition, controls, steering, power trim and intermediate housing.
Depending on the coverage you choose, additional benefits may include:
- Towing to the nearest qualified repair facility
- Hoist-lift-out at a qualified repair facility
- Up to $1500 of additional benefits* when the FPC marine service agreement is purchased at the time of watercraft purchase; benefits include valuable coupons that can be applied to your deductible, towing charges and roadside assistance
- Renewal options to extend the original coverage if desired
- Transfer of benefits if you sell your watercraft while the service contract is still active
Your cost will vary based on many factors, including the type of watercraft you are purchasing and the plan you select. We will review all of the options at the dealership.
