Financial strength is an important component of a successful company. Protective Life Insurance Company is recognized by the four prominent ratings agencies with the

following ratings:

An insurance rating is an opinion of the rating agency of the insurance company's financial capacity to meet the obligations of its insurance policies in accordance with their terms. Each of these independent rating organizations has assigned its rating based on a variety of factors, including the company's operating performance, asset quality, financial flexibility, and capitalization. A rating is not a recommendation to purchase, sell, or hold insurance contracts. Ratings are subject to change at any time. The insurer may have paid a fee to the rating agency. 

The Asset Protection Division provides service contracts, GAP products and credit insurance in all states. Its principal credit insurance underwriter, Protective Life Insurance Company (not licensed in New York), has an A.M. Best insurer financial strength rating of A+ (Superior, 2nd highest of 15 ratings). In New York the credit insurance underwriter is Protective Life and Annuity Insurance Company and has an A.M. Best insurer financial strength rating of A+ (Superior, 2nd highest of 15 ratings). Its principal service contract and GAP underwriter, Protective Property & Casualty Insurance Company (not licensed in New York), has an A.M. Best insurer financial strength rating of A (Excellent, 3rd highest of 15 ratings). In New York the service contract and GAP underwriter is Old Republic Insurance Company and has an A.M. Best insurer financial strength rating of A+ (Superior, 2nd highest of 15 ratings). Protective Life Insurance Company has a Standard and Poor’s rating of AA- (Very strong, 4th highest of 21 ratings), a Fitch rating of A+ (Strong, 5th highest of 22 ratings), and a Moody’s rating of A1 (5th highest of 21 ratings).
